Birdsfoot trefoil / Lady's slipper / Basged bysgota / Pys y ceirw / Lotus corniculatus
Flowers May - September
This plant has dozens of common names. I've given what I think are the top two English ones and the top two Welsh ones. It grows among grass and is very common throughout Britain. These were in Parc Bryn Bach in Blaenau Gwent. The name birdsfoot trefoil denotes that it has three parts to each leaf and the seed pods are arranged in fanned clusters, resembling a bird's foot. |
