Guelder rose / Ysgawen y gors / Corswigen / Vibernum opulus
Flowers May - July
This small tree is fairly common in hedgerows, except in Scotland. The larger 'flowers' round the outer edge are a sham - they are only there to lure insects to pollinate the real flowers inside the circle. The flowers are followed by bright red berries in the Autumn. This particular tree is in Parc Bryn Bach in Blaenau Gwent. |
