Douglas DC3 'Dakota'
Ansons and Dakotas flying over our garden on their way to and from RAF Hendon were a constant feature of my childhood and they never ceased to be a great source of mystery and joy to me. Unlike the Ansons there are still quite a lot of Dakotas about, being used for a very wide variety of purposes, some illegal! Those shown here were photographed by Angela Snowdon at the Biggin Hill Air Fair in 2000, but were probably built in the 1940s. |
