Reuben & Rosa Ansett
| This picture of my maternal grandparents was probably taken around 1905, shortly after my uncle Frank was born and five years before my mother was born. They were living in Parkdale Road, Plumstead by that time, and the address on the back of the photograph shows that the photographer was based in Woolwich. Rueben died of a heart attack only eight years or so after this picture was taken. Rosa remarried and lived until 1974, reaching a month short of 100 years old. Rosa and Reuben's daughter Grace, my mother, married one of her step-brothers by the second marriage, so my maternal grandmother's new husband eventually became my paternal grandfather. |
