Lesser knapweed / Hardheads / Pengaled / Centauria nigra
Flowers June - September
Abundant throughout Britain by roadsides and in meadows. Easily distinguished from greater knapweed, which has larger, more showy flowers. You only have to glance at the leaves to see it's not a thistle of any sort. This was photographed in Parc Bryn Bach, Blaenau Gwent. |
