ONLINE MUSEUM: Jazz, folk & rock: The Vulcans
This picture was kindly sent in by Derek White and shows a line-up of QE boys, The Vulcans, playing at the Barnet Methodist youth club (where The Spires shopping centre now is) around 1961.
Left to right: Derek himself, Alan Hoy, Martin Wiggs and Colin Young. Derek says that Alan, Martin and Colin were all accomplished musicians but that he himself lasted only a few months. He adds that, unusually for those days, both Alan and Martin wrote their own material. He remembers playing at Totteridge Tennis club where the police were called because a neighbour complained about the noise! Note the one Selmer amplifier which they are all plugged into.
