I feel that there is one OE from my time who should be commemorated here. Jack Lockwood, though several years my senior, was my hero during my early years at QE. John Frederick Lockwood MBE was a pupil from 1928 to 1938. In 1937 he established a national long-jump record that stood for 27 years and he ran 100 yards in 10.4 seconds. He served in the army from 1939 to 1961, achieving senior rank. He was seriously wounded at Monte Cassino in 1944. Jack was one of the kindest, most modest people I have ever met and I understand that he attended Founder's Day regularly until his death in July 2006.
