NAME: James (Jas) Cowen Then & NowIn regard to the rebuilding of the prototype P2 '2001 C0ck O' The North' I read on Wikipedia that the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust is the organization planning to build a working replica of this locomotive. It says it is to be as modified in 1938,using Gresley motion, Walschaerts valve gear, and a LNER A4 style 'Bugatti' streamlined front. The locomotive's frames were cut in April 2014 at Tata Steel's Wednesfield works. This all looks authoritative and I take it to be correct, unless anyone challenges it. In Wikipedia it also relates facts relating to the plans of the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, who were responsible for the construction of 60163 'Tornado', to build a P2 class locomotive to be numbered as 2007 and called 'Prince of Wales' in honour of Prince Charles. Construction for this has begun at Tata Steel's Scunthorpe Works and project cost is estimated at £5Mi. The completions of both projects are some way in the future obviously.
The Flying Scotsman went up the East Coast Main Line on 29 April. I took this photo near Brookmans Park.

NAME: James (Jas) Cowen Then & NowI was glad to see the fairly newly restored 'Flying Scotsman' engine on its visit to the Bluebell Line. I did not travel behind it, as I did not have one of the travel tickets, which apparently sold out within 30 minutes on the web site. I hoped to take photos of it from the platform at East Grinstead but was thwarted by staff saying it was for passengers only. We did see it as it reversed along the length of the train to head it at the far end. This was along with many others standing by the cafê carriage. This was not so good for photography, especially as my camera view went blank, as I was hoping to snatch some sort of picture. Later, however, I got lots of lovely photos taken, as it stood in the railway shed yard at Sheffield Park. Hurrah for that! I shall enjoy seeing any photos in Steam Railway and any photos and videos on the Internet. Due to a technical problem, this reply was posted with some text missing. It was added later the same day.
Thank you Nick [reply 122], that is a super photo! I haven't had a chance to see Flying Scotsman yet, but we have a visit through East Croydon in early June. I am working on replacing the hideous German smoke deflectors with Royal Scot style!

NAME: James (Jas) Cowen Then & NowI have sent six of my recent photos of steam locomotives, which include two of 60103 "Flying Scotsman" at Sheffield Park, for inclusion in my gallery.
I went on the Carlisle & Settle line this month, for the first time since 1979. Here is a picture of the 46115 Scots Guardsman at Carlisle, plus one of the Ribblehead Viaduct, which is not as good as the one I took almost 40 years ago!

NAME: James (Jas) Cowen Then & NowI enjoyed seeing the latest photos you have put on site, Nick. I look forward to seeing any others either from you or anyone else in later postings.
I took this photo [below] of Flying Scotsman approaching East Croydon on 3 June 2017 on a partially cloudy day, when the light was annoyingly changing every two or three minutes, so a little Photoshop editing was required. A friendly crowd of about two dozen enthusiasts had gathered on the bridge over the railway for the occasion, and I gather that many more were in and around the station and at other points along the route.

I took this [below] in the recent heatwave at Paignton Station. It's presumably ex Met and is evidently used on the heritage line down to Kingswear, though that was not the reason for my being there.
