This photograph, which was kindly supplied by
Martyn Day, was taken at a Youth Club in Goffs Oak, Herts, in 1959 or 1960. The two guitarists are Guy Hewlett who was at Q.E (in the centre) and Martyn himself on the right. Martyn says he has often wondered what happened to Guy but now Guy has found this site and become a contributor. Martyn recalls that they couldn't settle on a name for themselves, so were simply introduced as "A Visiting Rhythm Group." The only thing they agreed on was to roll their shirt sleeves up! It was an OE, Tony Lyon, who booked them into this, their first and last gig.
However, things turned out very differently for the lead singer pictured here. He's
Tommy Moeller who went on to write
Concrete and Clay for Unit 4+2 shortly after leaving school.
[Sorry - I've given up trying to provide links to Concrete & Clay. The videos are removed from YouTube etc almost as soon as I do that].
