Some paintings in the Exhibition of work by Hew Purchas (1932-2016), Wells-next-the-Sea, April 2017

Jas Cowen took these pictures (with the kind permission of the curator) at an exhibition in Wells-next-the-Sea of the work of former QE art master Hew Purchas. It was held in 2017, following his death the previous year.

PLEASE NOTE: these images are by no means accurate reproductions of Hew's work. They were taken under difficult circumstances in a confined space and it was necessary to lessen the severe distortion caused by a very wide-angle lens and oblique camera angles. This meant losing chunks of nearly every image. Also, measures to iron out the distortion have in some cases caused other kinds of distortion, almost as bad! The images will at least give a rough idea of the sort of work Hew did.
