Biology field trips, early 1960s: image 4 of 5
Chris Mungovan supplied this photo of a biology trip in the early '60s.
Martin Reeves has added the information that it was taken at Y Borth / Borth, 7 miles north of Aberystwyth, in April or May 1964 by biology master Eric Crofts, who organised the trip. It was taken a few days before or after the previous photo. He has supplied the following names (L6B=Lower 6th Biology; U6B=Upper 6th Biology):
Top row, l-r (as the viewer sees it):
1.Robert Lee (L6B) 2.Hayward (L6B) 4.Day (U6B/7B) - the tall guy. 6.Reen (U6B/7B) - in short-sleeved white shirt. 7.Myself (L6B) 8.Aldons (U6B/7B )- with long socks. 9.Worsley (U6B/7B)

4th row down (6 pupils):
1.Barrett (L6B) 2.Lockerman (U6B/7B) 3.McBean (U6B/7B) - these three are holding the pennant. 4.Mungovan (U6B/7B)- with pennant pointing at him (significance?) 5.McKenny U6B/7B) 6.Caplin (U6B/7B)
Bottom row of three:
1.Botany lecturer from Aberystwyth Uni - name unknown 2.Prof Jones, Dept. of Zoology, Aberystwyth Uni 3.Driver of 2nd minibus on the trip - name unknown.
Additionally, Mike Day has suggested to Martin the following:
Back row, 3rd from left: John Hamilton and 5th from left: Roger(?) Hollis.
Bottom row, seated: 1st from left: Dr Walter Schwabe, Dept. of Horticulture, Wye College, University of London.
And finally, Martin asks, who is that at the very top right, sitting on the hand rail? Could it be regular Stapfield contributor Adam Lines?
