1965: THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare

Paul Newman kindly provided this picture of the cast of The Tempest which was staged in 1965. Paul has identified Michael Marks at top left as Ariel. Standing taller than the rest of the cast is his brother Laurence Newman as Bo'sun. Kneeling are some 1st years, including Stephen Thorpe (3rd left), Rob Walsh (3rd right) and possibly Ian Page (4th left) and Ian Talbot (2nd right). He can't remember the others but thinks Miranda should be congratulated for her gorgeousness !

Nick Dean has since revealed that Miranda is in fact AH Bullett. He also thinks that the tall man at 3rd left, middle row, is almost certainly Andrew Spence, who was School Captain in Nick's first year (1964). The one to the right of Miranda, (i.e. 6th from left, middle row) he says is Patrick Lane (as Prospero). This has since been confirmed by Patrick himself, who adds that his brother George is somewhere in the front row.  See Nick's thread about this picture and Patrick's Thread 176. Unfortunately, the photo above displays symptons of having been printed with a Gnome enlarger (remember them?), the main clue being that it's out of focus near the edges.
