Well, what do we say?  Very interesting facts and opinions from all threads - good to know all round and that QE is not all perfect.  We're awaiting 1st round results (for admission 2009) and would like to know more!

Greetings Anon.  It would be interesting to hear of your experiences as you go through the selection process.  It is utterly understandable that parents want the best for their child although I am told that for some this can become an obsession - not in your case I assume!  In my day the selection process was the 11 plus exam and then the dreaded 'interview' with the then Headmaster Mr Jenkins.  My Father remained convinced that this was to establish whether both child and parents (who also had to be present) were 'suitable' and that they would further the public school image so sought after by EHJ at the time.  I well remember one of my peers at Osidge School who was far more deserving a candidate than myself being rejected at interview for no other possible reason than his working class background and accent.

Ha ha, at an airside coffee bar in Alicante Airport this last Saturday, the Spanish lady serving complained to my wife that she could not understand the English spoken by most of her customers - because they swallow their words, a common problem it seems!
